A rare and beautifully crafted two-piece bleeding/barber chair by the Theo A. Kochs Company of Chicago, Illinois. This barber chair also served as a bleeding chair used for removing "bad blood" to cure various ailments including reduction of swelling and expulsion of bad spirits. A wooden platform underneath the foot stool held a draining bucket for the blood. The walnut chair is decorated with fruitwood inlays and is upholstered in tufted leather. Patented by Kochs 2-17-80/8-14-88. Excellent condition.
