Colored Diamonds
This elegant necklace combines the striking beauty of black diamonds with the sparkle of white diamonds and gold. Showcasing an incredible 245.64 carats of expertly faceted, briolette-cut black diamond beads, this necklace is secured with an 18K white gold clasp, set with 1.56 carats of pavé-set white diamonds. Discovered by Brazilian diamond hunters in the 1840s, the black diamond, or carbonado, is among the rarest of all diamonds. Unlike a conventional diamond, which consists of a single crystal, the black diamond is made up of several crystals, which give the gemstone its dark, opaque color. Found only in Brazil and the Central African Republic, black diamonds also differ from conventional diamonds in that they are not formed deep within the earth's crust. In fact, the black diamond's rarity and unusual traits have led many scientists to believe that they could have originated in outer space!
