This monumental and rare rosewood armoire marks the transition from American Rococo Revival to Renaissance Revival with grace and panache. Possibly crafted by preeminent designer Charles Boudouine, this single door cabinet provides storage behind its period mirrored front door and frieze drawer in the base. A well-balanced and ornate design of pierced scrolls, classical columns and turned finials provides ornamentation to the sturdy and functional structure. Charles Boudouine was a household name beginning in the mid-19th century, offering large, elaborately carved furniture that complemented the lavish homes of the wealthy. Pieces hailing from this era are very desirable, especially those of such commanding size and grandeur. Circa 1870 40 1/2" wide x 21" deep x 84 1/2" high
