A fine pair of George III-period, 12-inch celestial and terrestrial globes by Dudley Adams, son of the noted George Adams of London. Each bears the hallmarks of advanced mathematical and cartographic notations of the day for which the Adams firm was renowned. Globes were only accessible to members of society with great wealth, and to own such a fine pair was the ultimate status symbol of both wealth and education.
Each globe bears the Dudley Adams seal, noting the firm’s status as “Globe & Math Instrument Makers to the King.”
