This rare and striking Austrian mystery swinger clock combines superb technological virtuosity with outstanding artistry. Exhibiting a beautifully-crafted classical design, the timepiece is itself a pendulum, which oscillates with exceptional evenness and regularity. Suspended from nine alternating, temperature-compensating brass and steel rods, the clock’s spring-driven movement is concealed behind the porcelain dial. Roman numerals and delicate engraved decorations add to the clock’s timeless elegance and sophistication. The swinging clock was a novelty of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Most were made in Germany and the united States, so to fine a rare, Austrian model is truly exceptional.
