This rare and extraordinary French eight-day timepiece celebrates the advances made in the industrial field in the 19th century. Almost certainly crafted by the famed A.R. Guilmet, this clock is finely constructed of silver and patinated brass, in a form resembling a brick mill or factory, atop a base of brass and red marble. Displaying the time on a silvered dial with Roman and Arabic numerals, the clock is flanked on either side by a barometer and thermometer. Of course, the star of this marvelous automaton is the turning paddle wheel, constructed of brass with wooden and brass paddles. Geared to two rising and falling pumps, this independent single barrel automaton movement is operated with a turn of a crank at the left side of the clock
