A pair of magnificent pedestals crafted of Sèvres porcelain. The upper and lower portion of the cylindrical columns feature Sèvres signature deep cobalt blue over-glaze with painted gilt scrolls, garlands, and foliage. The greater portions of the columns are done in hard-paste biscuit porcelain with high sculptural reliefs of dancing men and women celebrating a Bacchic festival with music, food, and drink in a tree-filled forest. These classical figures are dressed in beautiful flowing drapery that gives the impression of realistic motion, and their idealized bodies boast arresting details such as muscles and individual curls of hair. Both pedestals are topped with white carrara marble streaked with grey.
