A phenomenal French perpetual calendar clock with a two-piece enamel time dial and visible Brocot escapement. The vividly painted porcelain time dial indicates day, date, month, equation of time and moon phase and the two main dials are divided by porcelain plaques with putti images. Ribbons and leaves of exquisite doré bronze are raised on a red marble plinth, also applied with hand-chased gilded mounts. Rarely does one find a French clock in such a magnificent case equipped with an equally spectacular movement. The bell-striking movement (No. 28329) is signed J.B. Delettrez. Circa 1865.
