An exquisite miniature of Napoleon graces this beautifully-crafted circular snuffbox. This lovely case was fashioned by Swiss goldsmith Georges Rémond of Geneva, considered one of the finest enamelers and casemakers of the time. Dramatic cobalt sunburst guilloché enameling, perhaps the finest form of enamel decoration, covers the entire container. Adding to its elegance, the emperor's portrait is set in a skillfully chased gold frame and a delicate band of sky-blue fleur-de-lis, providing the center from which the bands of guilloche emanate. Both pieces of this marvelous container display maker's marks. Excellent condition.
