This monumental silver presentation cup and cover by James M. Garrard of R. & S. Garrard displays the hallmarks of quality that made the firm the leading producer of presentation silver in the mid-19th century. Outstanding examples of presentation silver of such a tremendous size, crafted by an important maker, seldom leave the confines of private collections and are exceedingly difficult treasures to acquire. This particular masterpiece is a beautifully executed example of Neo-classical design, handsomely proportioned with an elaborate marine motif with sirens and satyr masks in high relief.
