Made for Queen Charlotte of England by renowned silversmith Robert Garrard Senior, this fine silver gilt cream pitcher was commissioned one year before Her Majesty's death in 1818. The uniquely shaped jug was one of the last fashioned by Garrard before his death, also in 1818, and marks a turning point both for the Royal Family and for the Garrard firm. Adorned only with a graceful ivory handle and royal cypher, this unassuming piece boasts a quiet charm and outstanding provenance. It features maker's marks and is included in The Albert Collection, by Robin Butler.
