An important pair of Regency silver four-light candelabra by renowned silversmith Matthew Boulton of Birmingham. Sterling works by Boulton are a rarity, especially those exhibiting the superior workmanship seen in the present examples. These candelabra are rich with Regency elegance. The bases of the candelabra are crafted of fine silver, while the stems are formed of Sheffield silver. Known largely as an esteemed English inventor and entrepreneur, Matthew Boulton is also noted for his elaborate designs utilizing S h e ffield silver. Boulton reserved the medium of sterling silver for his most prestigious pieces.
