A handsome and commanding marble statue of Augustus Rex crafted with expert detail by Italian artist Orazio Andreoni. This revival is a superior representation of the original statue discovered on April 20, 1863 during excavations of a Roman villa near the village of Prima Porta and currently residing at the Vatican. Andreoni sculpted Caesar Augustus out of beautiful carrera marble, expertly executing the ornamental details on the armor. The allegorical depictions mix references of Roman conquests and mythology.
