A magnificent and rare marquetry jewel cabinet by famed French ébéniste Alfred Emmanuel Louis Beurdeley, a Parisian cabinetmaker who specialized in the manufacture of luxurious French furnishings. His extraordinary works earned him a Gold Medal at the Paris Exhibition Universelle of 1889. All four sides and the top of the cabinet are intricately inlaid with various exotic woods displaying beautiful scenes including a pastoral scene, a Grecian vase, birds, flowers and musical instruments. Exquisite dore bronze mounts accent the piece and a key-locking door opens to a fitted interior of 3 small drawers for storing valuables. Beurdeley was much admired for his designs and this lovely cabinet is a fine example of his expert vi
