A highly decorative Dresden porcelain carriage modeled after the works of Fragonard. Entitled "Berlina di gala," or "Gala sedan," this piece captures the essence of Rococo design with its graceful acanthus scrolling and intricate detailing. The carriage itself features eight miniature pastoral scenes painted on its panels. This lavish sculpture also includes the famous "Dresden lace," a method developed by Dresden decorators in which real lace was dipped into liquid porcelain and applied by hand, resulting in a remarkable delicate, fabric-like appearance. Dresden carriages such as this are a rare find, due to their size and fragility. Carriage panels signed by the artist.
