An outstanding KPM porcelain painting of the 15th-century trial of Bohemian priest and martyr, Johannes Huss (Jan Hus, John Huss, 1369-1415). The foremost of the Czech reformers, Huss served as a professor of philosophy and rector of the Charles University in Prague. He was responsible for leading a movement against doctrinal positions of the Roman Catholic church which resulted in Huss being labeled as a heretic. In 1414, a long trial began at the Council of Constance and on July 6, 1415 Huss was burned at the stake for his heresy. Huss is remembered for fostering the reformation spirit in Bohemia, which eventually led to the organization of the modern day Moravian Church. Porcelain impressed with Berlin eagle mark and KPM cyphers. Excell
