A superb and rare “Society of the Cincinnati” appointment certificate signed by George Washington. This elite organization was established in 1783 by the officers of the Continental Army. These men, who had borne the hardships of the Revolutionary War, organized the Society to keep alive the friendships forged during those tumultuous eight years. They unanimously elected General George Washington as their president, an office he held proudly until the end of his life.
