A wonderful "Mary Gregory" clear glass vase with enamel detailing of a young maiden with gold accents. Circa 1880. 11" high.
The term "Mary Gregory" is used to describe an entire group of glass made during the late 19th century. "Mary Gregory" pieces are characteristically decorated with white enamel most often depicting Victorian children. There is a theory that Mary Gregory was actually an artist working for the Boston & Sandwich Glass Company where she created this style, but there are no records proving she painted or designed glassware.
